10 Different Formations under Pep Guardiola

Guardiola leading the way.

I will post here 10 different formations that Pep Guardiola used during his 4 years at Barcelona. He has won everything on club level, but what in my opinnion is hig biggest legacy to the game that he reinvented the game. He is going some place that we haven't seen yet. He is an innovator and he sees things that nobody else sees, he is changing some of the concepts, changes how we think and have seen the game thus far, like going to a game with 1 natural defender, or 7 midfielders, without any strikers, or that the front 3 commits the most fouls, not the back 3, 4 or whatever, that the goalkeeper must use his legs more than his hands, possession could be also a defensive tactics,  and there are so many different examples.

Before I'm going to start, I suggest you to read this. It's the hiring criteria that Marc Ingla wrote to find a replacement to Frank Rijkaard, back at 2008. (from 'Barca: The Making of the Greatest Team in the World'

  1. With that list of criteria, it's easy to see how Mou was eliminated from consideration, and how Pep was chosen.
